Job Description
The technician will work within LM Ocala’s Advanced Services Laboratory. Technician will employ the tools and equipment available within the Advanced Services Laboratory to perform required analyses to aid in shelf life extension review, component construction inspection, tooling and assembly dimensional verifications, solderability testing, cleanliness assessments and sample preparation for metallographic, compositional and construction inspection. Specific responsibilities include:

Conducting and reporting on materials properties testing to enable shelf life extension of products used throughout the assembly process.

Performing construction analysis of incoming electronic components, including the identification of lead finishes, examination of internal die design, radiographic inspection of component construction, dimensional verification of component packaging and inspection for evidence of counterfeiting.

Performing dimensional analyses of components, assemblies and tooling using available equipment including a high-precision coordinate measurement machine.

Completing testing per industry standards on solderability of electrical component, wires and printed wiring boards.

Preparing samples for metallographic, compositional and construction inspection by cross-sectioning, through identification of and execution of proper sample preparation techniques based on material properties and analysis requirements.

Conducting basic functional testing of electronic components, circuit card assemblies and cable and harness assemblies to aid in failure analyses or required screening activities.

Managing regular testing for assessment of the cleanliness of electronic assemblies through SIR testing and ion chromatography testing.

Maintaining laboratory supplies, sustaining laboratory tools and equipment and aiding in identification of equipment and tools to improve laboratory analyses

Basic Qualifications
Associate Degree in a technical field, or equivalent post high school education (such as military service with training in electrical or mechanical technology, completion of a vocational program focused on electrical or mechanical technology).

Proficiency with interpreting technical data packages and engineering drawings.

Experience with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

This facility requires special access and therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.

Desired skills
Soldering experience and basic understanding of electronics circuitry.
Basic mechanical and electronic troubleshoot skills. Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly.
Experience working in a laboratory environment.
Ability to use electronic test equipment such as a digital multimeter.
Experience with use and programming of a coordinate measurement machine.
